Katz Group sees sustainability as an alignment of environmental, social, and financial initiatives — our triple bottom line. We aim to implement sustainability measures across our operations. Notably, several of our real estate operations are LEED certified, a globally recognized symbol of sustainability leadership for all building types and all building phases. Rogers Place is LEED Silver certified and both the Stantec Tower and Edmonton Tower are LEED Gold certified. Further, we are proud members of the Green Sports Alliance, the sports industry-leading organization dedicated to creating awareness and meaningful change towards a more sustainable future.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Equity, diversity and inclusion are core values of Katz Group and the organizations we operate. The Oilers Entertainment Group works in conjunction with the NHL’s Executive Inclusion Council to focus on educating and promoting a workplace environment where individuals, groups and staff feel welcomed, respected, supported and valued. We work to promote Leadership, Education, Employment, Partnerships and Civic Engagement among NHL Teams and Communities.

The Foundation has contributed over $56 million to more than 2,900 charities, community groups and minor hockey programs across North America.

Indigenous Partnerships

Katz Group is committed to advancing its relationships with Indigenous partners across all of its lifestyle brands. To that end, through the Oilers Entertainment Group, the Edmonton Oilers work to improve access and participation in sport for under-represented groups and have built a collaborative and inclusive relationship with local Indigenous communities including Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 First Nations. Through the work of the Oilers and its community foundation, thousands of Indigenous youths have participated in on and off ice programs, accessed new equipment and watched the Oilers formally celebrate the special ties between the organization and community.

Community Outreach

Katz Group is committed to leveraging the power of its brands to benefit communities across the Edmonton and Northern Alberta area. The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) is dedicated to building strong, vibrant and safe communities, with a focus on supporting local communities and under-represented groups. Since 2001, the Foundation has contributed over $56 million to more than 2,900 charities, community groups and minor hockey programs across North America. Much of the Foundation’s funding comes from an online 50/50 raffle held at every Edmonton Oilers hockey game, giving fans a chance to win half of the jackpot, while raising money for the Foundation to reinvest in the community. Over the 2020-21 season the Foundation donated $23 million to charities and minor hockey groups.

The EOCF also administered an innovative community engagement program created in 2015 by Chloe and Harrison Katz, children of owner Daryl Katz. Called Hockey Helps Kids, Chloe and Harrison forged an innovative partnership between the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton public schools to teach high school age children the value of giving back and building community. From inception through the 2019 NHL season, Hockey Helps Kids engaged 8,500 students and invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into charities in the community.
